TWO EXTREME HOME MAKEOVERS!
Well, Brittany got her brush with fame! Apparently she was close enough to Ty Pennington to 'smell his sweat!" While this didn't sound at all appealing to me, she assured me this was a good thing. She did come home a little more educated on the editing shenanigans they pull on us. You know that scene near the end of the show where the designers all come running out of the house... well, that was filmed several days before the reveal! The crowed had to practice the line "Move that Bus!" repeatedly, and the limo circled time after time after time! Now it could be these extra steps were only necessary for the southern Indiana crowd, but suffice it to say, things are not accomplished in the neat package we see on TV. I, for one, am shocked that Hollywood would deceive us! (There needs to be a way to convey sarcasm in written form!)
While all this played out, we had our own little home makeover going on here! You see, my parents are arriving today for a 10 day visit! My mother and I have this little ruse going on... the one where I pretend I'm a good housekeeper and she pretends that she believes it. We both really know the truth, but this little game works for us. We both win really, she is spared the shame of acknowledging that she raised a slob, and I get a clean house twice a year! No fear of my bedroom door falling off the hinges this week! Win-Win I tell ya!
Here are just a few of the things I have accomplished this week:
• I have reached the bottom of every hamper in my home! This is practically unprecedented. I must not rest on my laurels however, laundry is an unrelenting monster!
• Everybody has clean sheets, at the SAME time!
• I reorganized all my kitchen drawers and cabinets. They have taken a serious, serious hit since Christian started unloading the dishwasher!
• Jeff has made sure all 7 of his tools are neatly organized in the toolbox just in the event my dad is feeling handy!
• The top of my refrigerator is clean. I find myself often forgetting the things that no one is tall enough to see! The fact that I bothered with this chore for my miniscule parents just shows what a roll I was on!
The list goes on and on, but you will have to come visit me to see the miraculous makeover that has taken place! I believe I have truly lived up to my moniker this week!

I'm shocked and apalled to learn of ABC's tomfoolery. The German was right, it's all camera tricks and trick photography.
When I do a thorough cleaning I fool myself into thinking that THIS time I can keep it that way...and then my kids bring me back to reality and mess it up in 5 minutes. Sigh.
Why is it that we di this to ourselves? Wayne and I joke that we should have people over more often. The "little" things that never get done, suddenly get done. Of course living in a house that is being remodeled does have it's downsides...where do you put the stuff??? My favorite place is the garbage can. I would not consider myself a packrat. I guess living in smaller spaces for 7 years has led to this.
I knew TV tricked us. I knew it.
Somehow in my heart I knew that it couldn't go like it looked on TV - however, I am impressed that Brittany and her friends got to see it all - when does it air?
Wow! How does famous sweat smell?
Congrats on the housecleaning/organizing!!! Now that's an EXTREME makeover! :)
Hey, Mom visiting my house last week set yours up to look good no matter what you did or didn't do! :)
